Dream Cast: Trial by Fire

When I did my giveaway I had you guys leave comments as a entry to let me know what kind of posts you would like to see. Dream cast posts was a very popular answer. I have wanted to do this for awhile and your answers just made me want to even more. Trial by Fire was such a great book with fantastic characters so of course I wanted to make it my first dream cast post. Make sure to check my review out for Trial by Fire! I only casted for Lily, Tristian, and Rowan. Since this is my first dream cast I didn't want to go over board.

For me Lily was so hard to try to find an actress that fit her look. If you have read the book than I think you could understand why. I ended up choosing Jane Levy
For Tristian the high school player that everyone wants I picked Brenton Thwaites. I know Tristian is suppose to have longer hair, but when I saw this picture I just saw Tristian.
Okay Matt Lanter was the perfect Rowan!
So what do you guys think? I would love to hear your thoughts on my picks as well as who you could cast. If you like these kinds of posts please let me know in the comments below and I can do more. Happy reading ya'll!!!!

Review: Trial by Fire: Josephine Angelini

Series: The Worldwalker Trilogy #1
Goodreads Overall Rating: 4.03
Published: September 2nd 2014 by Feiwel & Friends
Favorite Quote: "I'm not stubborn Lily said. I have conviction. And I'm not afraid to do something difficult in order to stay true to my beliefs."
"This world is trying to kill Lily Proctor. Her life-threatening allergies keep her from enjoying experiences that others in her hometown of Salem take for granted, which is why she is determined to enjoy her first high school party with her best friend and longtime crush, Tristan. But after a humiliating incident in front of half her graduating class, Lily wishes she could just disappear.

Suddenly, Lily is in a different Salem—one overrun with horrifying creatures and ruled by powerful women called Crucibles. Strongest and cruelest of them all is Lillian . . . Lily's other self in this alternate universe.

What makes Lily weak at home is what makes her extraordinary in New Salem. In this confusing world, Lily is torn between responsibilities she can't hope to shoulder alone and a love she never expected."
Forget what you think you know about Salem and witches. Angelini will educate you on epic parallel worlds where witches rule. They are the lifelines, without them you wont survive. Try to burn them....it only makes the stronger.
This book was everything I was hoping for. Fast past and out of this world....and into another parallel world to be exact. This book was so fantastical done that it made me obsessed with the thought of parallel worlds and maybe the people we as society think are crazy really aren't, they just see all the worlds all at once.....Interesting right? Lily is a very sick girl who literally has so many crazy illness that the doctors don't know what is wrong with her or how she is alive. She also has a very attractive best friend who she has been in love with for years. Having great eye candy by your hospital bed may be a fine trade off. He is the school hottie and also the school player. He gets what he wants and then he throws the girl away like last weeks trash. He has always been her best friend, holds her hand when she has reactions, stays up sitting by her hospital bed, and sneaks in cards so they can play games in the hospital. Then one night everything changes he kisses her, and their romance begins right? I mean two best friends falling in love sounds perfect and the way most YA books go. Whelp not this one. Just when you think you have this book figured out it throws you through so many twist and turns you have no idea what is going to happen next.
This book isn't about Lily falling in love (although there is a GREAT romance story line it isn't the main plot.) She ends up in a different world face to face with Lillian. Lillian brought Lilly to her world, but why? Lillian is cruel and will stop at NOTHING to succeed in making her Salem the way she thinks it should be. Where children, woman, and men die there is no end to what Lillian will sacrifice. Lily must stop Lillian and with the help of a few good men she may find a way to end her.
This book was FANTASTIC Josephine Angelini shows once again how truly talented she is. I cant and wont give away much about this book, because it was great going into blindly. The reviews I read were very discrete about the actual plot and now I know why. I LOVED how I had no idea what to expect because Angelini writes it so well that the only way you could know what to expect is if someone told you. Not knowing in this book is half the fun.
Hands down one of the best and original books I have read this year...actually ever. I highly recommend this book!!!!! Please let me know your thoughts on this book =)

Book Haul, Sickness, & Football

Hey guys I am so sorry for the last week. I know I haven't blogged, if you follow me on twitter (and you should) then you know that I had an awful week about a week and half ago. It started out with the stomach flu, oh boy was that fun. On top of that I felt a LITTLE better on Friday and that was good because we had to pack up and get ready for a weekend trip. We had tickets for a football game, and had already got the tickets, and had plans to spend the weekend with friends we hadn't seen in months. Do you want to laugh, because I can give you one. I never thought about having the stomach flu not mixing well with sitting in the hottest time of the day for four hours. Yup I sat in a stadium over 90 degrees while being dehydrated. Oh and our car was over a mile away with HUGE hills to climb on the way. I got so dehydrated I got sick at the game, and was so dizzy by the time we got to the car I couldn't see straight and shook so bad my teeth chattered. Yuuuuup with that happening it has literally taken me till yesterday to feel decent. My free time has been spent sleeping and just trying to get healthy again.
I wanted to share that with you NEVER go to a game after being sick EVER EVER EVER!!!!!
Now with that being said lets get to the books I picked up yesterday. We did a small celebration for my healthy self yesterday. We got some great books I have been waiting forever for!
The Perilous Sea!!!!! Ohhhhhh if you have followed my blog then you know how much I LOVED The Burning Sky which is the first book in this trilogy. The first book was so amazing. I find it hard to find a great YA fantasy at times. The Burning Sky was the best exception. The world building was fantastic. In fantasy it can be difficult to stay focused or to imagine the world the author has created. This is a great example of how a author can create a unique world and not confuse the reader. PLEASE PICK UP THE BURNING SKY
All I have to say about this is Stephanie Perkins. That's seriously all you need to know to make you want to pick this book up. Perkins is to me one of the most talented romance writers. If I ever need a pick me up, feel good, giggle worthy book then Perkins' books are always the way to go. If you are still on the fence to pick up one of Perkins books then maybe a quote from Tahereh Mafi who wrote The Shatter Me series will change your mind. On the back of Isla and the Happily Ever After Mafi is quoted saying "Stephanie Perkins is the Jane Austen of our generation. Her stories ache, soothe, and leave you breathless with joy; there's true magic in these pages- it's an experience you won't soon forget."
This is the sequel to The 5th Wave. I enjoyed The 5th Wave. It wasn't a happy book, but it was fast paced. intriguing, unique, and in may was realistic. I have no idea what to expect in this book. Both Chris and I are both excited for this one!
What books are you drooling over this week? Don't be shy to leave comments I missed you guys this week!

Before blogging (dark times people!) how would you find out about new books or did you? - Suggested by A Great Read
First can I say how excited I am that I was this weeks pick?!!!! I literraly did a happy dance around the house. No shame, just living the life of a blogger we get excited over some crazy things.

Well I guess my answer is pretty simple. I didn't have a lot of friends growing up that read so I didn't have anyone to recommend books to me. My mom and I would at least once a month drive the hour drive to the nearest bookstore and we would browse for hours! (Sorry we wasn't about to drive that long drive and stay 15 minutes we stayed pretty much ALL day.) I would look at the store employee's recommendation section to see their choices. For the most part though I would just grab a HUGE stack of books and take them to the sitting area and just read a little of each of them. If I had to force myself to put it down then I knew it was a keeper. These trips were some of my favorite memories growing up, and being able to share my love of reading with my mom has always been one of the greatest gifts.
I still like to do this sometimes. Just going into a store and picking up a book you have never heard of. I feel like that's sometimes how you find some of your favorite books. There isn't any hype or bashing of the book, not many people know about it, it feels like your own precious find for just a little bit. Then of course after you have had your moment you recommend it to EVERYONE...blogger problems =)
What about you guys? Let me know how you use to find new books in the comments below =) If you are a new follower HI *Waves to you* make sure you let me know so I can follow you back =)
Happy Friday ya'll!!!

BACK TO SCHOOL: Schools in Books

This week on Back to School I wanted to help you guys feel in sync with some great characters. I wanted to pick some books for you guys that I love that take place in school environments. Now school will not be the main point or problem these characters go through, but they do go through some of the tough situations and stress you guys do at school. Some characters live on campus and deal with the drama of being independent for the first time, missing home, the struggle of finding who they truly are, drama, and parties. College is a hard time for many people because you are finding your own self on your own terms. Mommy and daddy aren't there to tell you what to do or how to act. Some struggle while others flourish.

I HAD to put girls in this post that loved to learn and enjoyed the structure of school. I sometimes forget that learning can be looked at on a bright note. It's hard to remember that when you have 5 gazillion papers to write. I picked two girls I thought fit this category perfectly. They also in some ways got picked on for their love to learn and how smart they truly were. I think sometimes people feel the need to dumb themselves down to feel like others can relate to them. Neither one of these girls ever did that, and even though they had hurt feelings at times they stuck to their guns.

If you haven't read this book you need to stop what you are doing and go get this book NOW. This book was everything a book nerd wants in a book. Cath writes fan fiction and does an amazing job at it. Being a fan fiction writer, a loving daughter, and loyal sister is all she has ever known. When Cath goes off to college her world is turned upside down. She doesn't have as much time to write, her sister wants to take her own space, and Cath can't take care of her father hours away from home. This is an amazing coming to ago book, and oh the romance is FANTASTIC. I recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!
I will start by saying this is a NA book so yes there are some sexy times going on in this book. I felt the need to let my younger viewers know. I laughed so hard in this book. To me the humor was the best aspect in this book. Bliss is tired of being a virgin and just wants to get rid of her v card as quick as possible, and the best way she knows how is with a one night stand. Well she tries to get a one night stand going and freaks out. I mean she really freaks. She starts yelling about cats right before it goes down. The guys stops and she lies telling him she has to go pick up her cat. She runs out of the apartments, leaves the stranger in HER apartments, forgets to grab a shirt, and has to sit in the bushes hiding waiting till he leaves. The next day she goes to class and see's her one nightstand......TEACHING HER CLASS!!!!!! That is all I am going to tell you. Just go and grab this book you wont regret it.
This book is as you all know one of my absolute favs! Anna isn't in college, but she spends her last year of high school in PARIS!!!!!!! Little to say Anna's life is turned upside down. Her life is finally coming together. The cute boy she works with has finally noticed her, she loves her job, she has great friends, and then her father drops the bomb. Being a famous writer he wants to look good and have his daughter to go to boarding school. So Anna is forced to pack up and leave everything she knows. Little to say Anna is stressing she is even stressing about if she can wear white shoes in Paris without sticking out like a sore thumb. What Anna isn't expecting is to find true friends, learn more about herself by letting go of some of her uptight ways, and falling in love. The romance is this book is spectacular. Just seeing Anna grow as a person was heartwarming. This would be one of the books I take with me if I was going to be stranded on a desert island.
Sydney is by far one of my favorite characters of ALL time! I think she is one of the strongest characters I have ever read about and she is a true role model. Sydney is smart and organized beyond words. She is the girl that the second she gets home she starts her homework because, she wants to make sure that if something were to happen (like having to run a hungry vampire to a emergency feeding) she would have her homework done no matter what. I wanted to put her on this list because I would love to be as structured as she is. Don't think that this book is about Sydney being a good student. This girl goes through hell and back. I don't want to give you any description BECAUSE this is a spin off to the Vampire Academy books. So giving you ANY detail could be a spoiler.

Of course this wouldn't be a good post without talking about the scholar Hermione Granger. She is the equivalent to the perfect student. Any time I don't want to study or do my homework because I feel like I have too much going on I think, what would Hermione Granger do? She is a role model in MANY aspects including giving you all in everything you do, and sadly that does include school and homework.
I hope you guys are enjoying these Back to School posts. Let me know if you have a specific Back to School posts you would like to see. You guys know I love hearing your thoughts. Is there a book that I left out that you would want to share? Just leave you thoughts in the comments below =) Happy reading ya'll!

So I know this is different kind of post but I want your help. After reading Doon and I am currently reading Trial by Fire I am becoming obsessed with parallel worlds! I just love the idea of fumbling on an entrance to a different world. It makes me think could this be possible or at least I would like it to be. I have been day dreaming of different worlds for the last couple of weeks and I just have so much fun with it! After thinking about that and not finding many books that caught my eye that involve different worlds this post came to mind.
This maybe a new kind of post a do on my blog if it gets comments. I really would love to hear some of your guy's recommendations. What are some books you LOVED and want to share the amazing book with others? It doesn't have to be a book about parallel worlds that is just the kind of book I am obsessing over right now, but I still want to read other types of books. Tell me some books that blew your mind.

I hope you guys give me some recommendations I would love to know what you guys are loving. I hope you guys are having a lovely Monday and get a chance to unwind with a good book =)

Review: Doon by: Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon

Series: Doon #1
Overall Rating on Goodreads: 3.87
Published: Published August 20th 2013 by Zondervan
Pages: 368
My Rating: 4/5 Stars

Veronica doesn't think she's going crazy. But why can't anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months.

But the Scottish countryside holds other plans.

Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna's great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica's daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they've longed for...or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

DOON is loosely based on the premise of the musical Brigadoon, with permission from the ALan Jay Lerner Estate and the Frederick Loewe Foundation.

Alright it's time for me to be honest. I LOVED this book. The world consumed me and made me drift dreamily into the world of Doon. I believe this book is a guilty pleasure for me. I knew that the writing style wasn't amazing. The love interest wasn't anything new. Boy acts like he hates girl but secretly doesn't. There is a lot of insta love. So how did I like it so much? Let me tell you in some weird way all of those things worked for the book. I know that sounds weird, but have you ever read a cheesy book or watched a cheesy movie that you KNOW IS CHESSY, but you still freaking love it and just want to read/watch it over and over again? This is Doon for me. Doon gave me everything I needed right now. I am beyond stressed with school like a lot of you are right now. I needed a read that was light, cute, funny, and had the right amount of romance. I don't want to scare you away from this book because I do think that this book is a great read.
Lets talk about Doon. I loved the fact that this book had parallel worlds. I have a crazy fascination with thinking you can take a wrong turn or cross a bridge and you are in a different world. I want more books with parallel worlds! Doon is defiantly a top pick of a world I would want to discover. The world of Doon is described beautifully I mean look at the cover of the book!
I liked the romance in this book I couldn't help it. It wasn't realistic at all but it was that cheesy love story that we all secretly like! I know this isn't my usual kind of review, but I wanted it to be honest. I liked this book so much I went to the store and got the second book on its release date. You can see the cover in my last post =) So tell me do you have a guilty pleasure book? You know it's cheesy but you cant help but love it? If so let me know in the comments below. Happy reading Ya'll!

Are you also a writer and what genre or did you ever consider writing? - Suggested by The Pegster Reads

It's funny that this is this weeks question because I use to write wayyyy back in the day, but recently told myself I needed to pick it back up. I love writing YA probably because that is my favorite genre to read personally. I do get afraid to ever take writing seriously because with so many YA books I have read, I am terrified that I would copy someone else's idea with out even realizing it! Is that anyone else's fear? Do you guys write? If so please let me know. You guys know I love hearing from you! Leave me links to your blog or just let me know in the comments below if you don't have a blog. Happy Friday ya'll!

I know you were expecting a WoW today, but guys do you know what yesterday was?! THE BEST DAY EVER! Yesterday was a great book release day and I went ham on those babies, but first let me tell you how the day started. I was so excited to get the books I wanted so I drove straight to my local bookstore. I was looking around and couldn't find ANY of the books. I just thought they hadent put them out yet. So I go upfront to ask and this is what they say "Ohhhh we didn't order any of those...."

I think I just stood there for a few minutes not comprehending what he said. I was dumbfounded. How on earth do you have a bookstore and not keep up with the MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF THE YEAR?! As a bookstore owner it is your job to keep up with things like this.
ANYWAYS so we drove over an hour to the nearest bookstore and got them there instead. It was so worth the drive!
Yup you bet your sweet cakes I got this sucker! I have already started it and IT'S SO GOOD! I love Angelini's writing. Just the right amount of witty, romance, action, and drama!
I don't know who was more excited to get this bad boy, myself or my husband. When we got to the store they didn't have the book on the floor yet. They told him it was till in the box, he replied "Okay I'll wait right here so you can find me after you get the box." In that moment I knew I had found my soul mate. We are the sweetest people you will ever meet, but don't mess with our books. Thankfully the woman that helped us understood our love for books! This sucker is HUGE it has 565 pages! Cant wait to see what all happens! EEEEEK
Can we just take a second and look at how absolutely gorgeous this cover is?!! This is for sure in the top 5 of the most beautiful covers I have ever seen! Destined for Doon is the sequel to Doon. I LOVED Doon! (Review to come.) I cannot wait to cross the bridge again and enter the beautiful magical world of Doon.
I know this book came out awhile ago, but I saw it right before we checked out and had to have it. I have heard great things about this book, but wanted to wait till the hype went down a little before getting it. Hopefully I will enjoy it =)
Did you guys get any of these books on their release date? Let me know what books you have bought so far this week, and if you have read any of the books I hauled. Hope ya'll are having a fantastic day!
