Tea Talk: Christmas Gift Guide for Everyone in Your Life

Today I am going to recommend gifts for everyone in your life. Of course as book lovers, we want to give books to everyone! Sadly, not everyone gets excited about reading as we do, but we refuse to give up! Here are a few gift suggestions for the readers, and nonreaders in your life! PLUS I will give you ideas on packaging ideas that will be a hit!

For the political obsessed person in your life and/or history nut.
I have given these books to: Grandparents, father-in-law, history teacher, and my neighbor who is in the air force. BTW: My neighbor hates reading, and he finished these books in a month!

For the Newlyweds
Packaging: Put all items on a cute serving tray. The couple can enjoy a morning or brunch in bed discussing their love languages. All you have to do is wrap the serving tray in clear wrapping and tie it with ribbon.

This book shows the different types of love languages there are. Trust me, this book is helpful. It has the couple take a test and see which love language they speak. This shows their spice how their loved one feels love. It gives examples that truly help. My husband and I can both say this book has helped our marriage on so many levels. This is my go to gift for newlyweds.

You can find Mr. and Mrs. cups EVERYWHERE.

You can find this tea at Walmart and most grocery stores. Nothing is more romantic than Paris! The couple can enjoy a nice cup of tea while discussing their love language.

For the Reader who Loves Action
Packaging: Pair the book with their favorite caffeinated drink and candies. They will not be able to put this book down till they finish it.
This book is a HUGE book. It takes place in outer space. This book is beyond original. It is in the form of files, recordings, etc. You feel like you are part of the CIA trying to figure out a case.

To this day, this is still my favorite Jennifer L. Armentrout series. This book have me all the feels, and I cannot rave about it enough. Plus this book is ALWAYS cheap. On Kindle it is normally $4.00, and I have never seen it priced any higher.

Chick-lit Lover
Packaging: Instead of using regular wrapping paper, put items in a bad, and use sparkly tule as the paper peaking out of the bag.

Add a cute girly mug. You can find mugs everywhere. You could write a cute quote from the book on a mug, and follow instructions on pinterest for a cute DIY project.

Special Man in your life
Packaging: Put the items in a box. Then print out a picture of the super hero logo of your choosing. Tape the logo to the box. Then wrap the box in wrapping paper, covering all the box BUT the logo.
Even though this book deals with more of a anti-hero idea. Your man will want to save the day while reading this book.

Target has all kinds of super hero socks! My husband wore some on our wedding day! I know it sounds weird, but I always called him my superman. He even wore the S under his tux, and yes I have pictures =)

Coffee Table Books
Packaging: Put all items in a basket. Add coffee and mug, candles, cookies, and/or anything else that you would imagine that person putting on their coffee table

With this one you could add a notepad labeled 'BUCKET LIST" If it is for a couple add a couple of pens, maybe a bottle of wine, and tell them to plan their ultimate getaway.

EXTRAS TO ADD
They have to have something to cuddle up with. If you want to go the extra mile, get them an electric blanket throw! I LOVE mine and there is nothing better than snuggling up on the couch with a good book and heated blanket!

These electric tea kettles look SO FANCY, but they are actually really cheep. You can find this one at Walmart for around $15.00!!!!!

These are not your average bookmarks. These bookmarks have LED lights, timers, and more. You can find these specific ones at Barnes and Noble.

Fuzzy socks are a must! You can normally find fuzzy socks or slippers at a great price at Walmart.
Candies are always fun. Find candies and foods that will be easy for them to snack on while reading.

I hope this gift guide helps. I worked REALLY hard on this one, and I hope it shows! Share your thoughts and ideas in the comments, I cannot wait to hear your thoughts =)
Happy Holidays and happy reading Y'all,
Ashley

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine   that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Forever Doon (Doon #4)
Author: Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon
Series: Doon

With the witch of Doon on the throne, Jamie believed dead, and Duncan and Mackenna trapped in Alloway, Veronica has no choice but to put her grief aside and prepare her remaining followers for the impending battle against the false queen and her forces. But while on a covert mission to steal a powerful elixir from the castle, Veronica discovers her true love may actually be alive, and fighting a battle of his own.

With the Brig o’ Doon destroyed and the portal fragmented, Doon’s forces are not only divided, but also isolated in different dimensions. With the help of a storyteller as ancient as the witch herself, Kenna and Duncan learn they must rebuild the bridge to have any chance of crossing back into Doon with their ragtag army. But when Mackenna insists on fighting as well, Duncan soon realizes the only way he can ensure her safety is to turn her into a cold-hearted killer.

For Vee, Jamie, Kenna, and Duncan, saving their kingdom while keeping their lives intact will take a miracle.

Why I am Waiting
If you have not started this series I HIGHLY recommended it. This series reminds me of the YA version of Outlander. This series is a nice fluffy read, with fun loving characters, and a wonderful magical land that I would love to live in. Oh and there are sigh worthy men in kilts.....enough said? I

December 8th: Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

This was one of the best reads for me this year! I feel like I cannot believe I waited this long to enjoy the amazing world of Holly Black's writing.

This was the BEST SUMMER read. I have another book by Matson, but I am saving it for summer =)

Higgins' writing will make you laugh, blush, and cry. I LOVED this series

Ready's world in this book was unique and fantastic!

Do I really need to say anything about Marie's writing besides perfection?

I could not put this book down!

I feel deprived because I waited too long to read Bardugo's writing.

I know, I know, it took me too long to read Kagawa books! I made up for it though, I have read three of her books this year =)

I know this author does not write YA, but I needed a Christmas book! Read my previous post about there being few YA Christmas books

I know I cheated...kinda. I mean Tahir IS new to me =) I am just so excited for her next book to come out!

Tea Talk: YA Christmas Books, Mood Reading, and Teaching

First of all, I am so happy to be back! As some of you know I have been reading ALOT of children lit for one class.....and when I say a lot I mean 18 books in 3 months. I also had to nit pick them all, write lesson plans for them, and then teach on some of them. While teaching is such a blessing and a gift, it is also beyond time consuming. Since my blog is mostly on YA books I did not want to fill this blog up on teaching ideas on children books.
Although, if every now and then you want a feature on children books that I liked and did not like, let me know and I can make it happen!
Now, on to the good stuff! I feel like this is the time of year I get to read a lot. Thanksgiving break, Christmas breaks, snow days etc. During this time of year I get into mood reading, but my mood seems to not fit a category YA can help me with. I get in the mood to read CHRISTMAS books, winter romances, warm happy books that take place during winter. Basically I want a Hallmark movie in YA book form. Yes I have read "My True Love Gave to Me", and I LOVE the short stories, but a girl can only read it so many times. I have ventured out and read adult Christmas books, and the books have been okay, but they are missing the YA feel I love.
Why do you think there is not many YA Christmas books? I understand that culture and religion play a roll, but that has not stopped the children and adult categories from publishing multiple Christmas books. Obviously there are some amazing YA authors who do not have a problem writing Christmas books, since there were 12 VERY popular authors who wrote short Christmas stories in "My True Love Gave to Me."
So what am I suppose to do when I cannot fix my mood, because there are not many Christmas YA books to read? Am I missing some great YA Christmas books that are not on my radar? If you know any great FLUFFY YA Christmas books then please share! Am I the only one that wishes there were more Christmas reads for us YA book lovers?
So in a nutshell, here are the questions I have for you; Do you want a feature on here about children books, if so what specific things would you like to see on the feature? Am I the only one that gets in the mood for Christmas YA? Lastly, do you know of any great, fluffy, YA Christmas reads that you can share in the comments below?
I cannot tell you how great it feels to be writing on here again. I have truly felt like a piece of me was missing. These past few months have shown me how important this blog is to me. So do not worry I will not go on a break from this blog again, I am back, and not going anywhere =)
Happy Reading Y'all,
Ashley

Tea Talk: Are You a Good Closer?

I haven't written a Tea Talk in a long time, and I really miss them!
So today I want to ask are you a good closer? What I mean by that is when you have a series you LOVE and the last book FINALLY releases do you read it right then or do you wait because you cannot stand thinking your beloved series will come to an end?

My personal experience is this, I get all excited I bog about the last book coming out on my Waiting on Wednesday posts, and I talk non stop about the book. Then the book finally releases and on that day I normally go and get the book as soon as I can! I start reading it, and then about 6 chapters in it hits me, I'm not ready! I'm not ready for my beloved series to end! No more adventures with the characters that have become friends I have to say goodbye. Sure I can reread the book but we all know it isn't the same. (Don't get me wrong I still reread my favorite books) Then the anxiety hits, what if this amazing series ends horribly? Many times the book I waited so long for, will sit on my shelf for months before I find the courage to read the last book in a beloved series.

Here are some series that I have been having a hard time with reading the last book

* I know this isn't the last book in this series but I LOVED the first book so much my expectations for this books is BEYOND high, and that scares me*

So are you a good closer or are you like me and find finishing a series too much to take sometimes?
Let me know if the comments below! I really hope I'm not the only one who finds anxiety in ending
 a great series.
Happy reading yall,
Ashley
