Frostbite Essentials Part 2

Rose talks about how her room is beyond luxurious. She loves the huge bathtub and the deluxe bed that is in the middle of her amazing suite.  To go with the luxury of the ski lodge and some fun situations and places Rose and her friends find the perfect way to feel in character in this part of the book is to have a spa day! I will give you some links for some nice spa treatments, and also simple ways you can make your own house look and feel like a high-end spa.

  • Now if you want a one stop place this blog has amazing DIY spa recipes. It even has explanations of why the ingredients are good for you.
  • I am sure that most of you have heard of the detox bath with Epsom salt, baking soda, and ginger. I have tried this and LOVE it. I do this bath often right before going to bed. I grab my book and soak for as long as I can handle it. I do skip the ginger often because it will make you sweat....ALOT. The ginger really releases the toxins out of your body. Adding essential oils really adds something extra if you have it on hand. Taking deep breaths of relaxing scents like lavender will help calm and relax you.  Make sure to drink TONS of water. Best thing about this detox bath is its super cheap, and most likely you already have the ingredients =) I just got the picture off of Pinterest.
  • Now if you are doing a book club I think this would be such a cute present for your members to take home. It is like the recipe above but has added sea salt and clay. Yay for free cute pintables!!
  • Now if you are like me and have dry skin winter can be a mother unpleasant experience on your skin. I have started taking a coconut milk bath to help with my dry skin, but when I saw this recipe I knew I had to upgrade my milk bath!
  • Now while you are soaking in the bath you can let your hair soak up some needed moister here are ten hair masks to choose from.
  • Now that you are squeaky clean you can do your manicure and pedicure. Want to know how to make fun nail designs this link will show you some great nail hacks.
  • Now give your feet some love. They are so easily ignored and they hold you up all day, they need some attention. Here is a link with all the steps to give your feet the love they need, and a great DIY foot scrub.
  • Now on to spa water. Yes you need to drink plenty of water throughout your spa day to keep hydrated. If you are like me you do not care too much for the taste of regular water. Here is a link for Vanilla Bean Spa Water and it is nice and simple.
Here are simple ways to make your house feel like a high-end spa.
  • Plan your spa day, just like you would have to make a reservation at a real spa. Make sure it is a day that you can have all to yourself.
  • The day before make it your cleaning day. Have your house cleaned from top to bottom. Bathroom cleaned, bedroom, sheets, and comforter washed.
  • If you need any ingredients for your spa day do it the day before as well. This way you do not have to worry about being bummed out on your spa day seeing that you do not have the ingredients for what you were hoping to do
  • At the start of the day make sure to make your bed, and put a mint or chocolate on your pillow.
  • Have a book ready to be read
  • By your bed if you have a relaxing spray, spray it on your pillow to help promote good sleep.
  • Candles are great, but they can be expensive and a fire hazard. I recommend the flameless candles. This way you can have them all over the house and not have to worry about checking on them. Putting them around your bathtub is always relaxing.
  • Nice fluffy warm towels always nice. Take your towels you will be using and your robe and put them in the dryer right before you take your bath.
  • Soft relaxing music playing the background will help you relax.
I hope you guys like this post, let me know if you use any of the spa day treatments!

Frostbite Essentials: Food & Treats

Hey guys so this is your essentials list for Frostbite. Frostbite takes place at a ski lodge and of course I found this a perfect time to read this book since it is a beautiful winter wonderland for most of us right now, and what goes better with a cold snowy day then hot chocolate and a pot of soup? I will have links below to AMAZING recipes for a couple of homemade hot chocolates that have unique twists to them. I will also have recipes for soups, and some of them will be crockpot recipes so you can just throw the ingredients in the pot and get back to reading!
I love this girls YouTube channel and she has some really yummy hot chocolate recipes! The first one is her s'mores hot chocolate!

This next one is my FAVORITE it is so rich and creamy and perfect I HIGHLY recommend this one. *Tip if you do not have the hot chocolate she has, do not worry! I have used this recipe with many different hot chocolates. As long as you use a really rich chocolate it will be great!

Of course I had to put on here hot chocolate on a stick

Now on to the soups!

This slow cooker vegetable soup looks so hearty and yummy, and I have it pinned to try!

We had this sausage and bean soup last night and it was GREAT! We actually forgot to put the noodles in, but we added frozen spinach and it was incredible.

If you haven’t heard of skinny taste blog you are missing out! She has amazing recipes that are on the lighter side. Here is her turkey chili taco soup.
I hope you guys like this post and if you try any of the recipes let me know in the comments =)

Book Of The Week Review: Frostbite

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

Now I know what some of you are thinking, am I going to do a review on every book in this series continually week after week? My answer is no. I understand that some of you do not like this series and it is not fair to you guys. I do plan on continuing with this series, but spacing it out so I can review different books for you guys. Now since that is out of the way on to the review. I really enjoyed this book, I loved that it took place at a ski lodge, it was great to read while curled up with a blanket while it snowed. I FINALLY felt connected and invested in the characters. Like the good reads description shows Rose's mother comes in to the picture, and I loved this because it helped us learn more about Rose. Rose definitely grew on me during this book, and even though at times she still got on my nerves she is growing up and it is nice to watch. The relationship drama is to the max, but in a real way. I did not feel like the relationship part seemed cheesy or fake. This book had a shock and instance start and it did not stop till the last page. There were some parts that had me rolling my eyes, and also a few big problems that happened in book one that were not addressed in Frostbite, they were not even mentioned so that was frustrating. I do not want to give you too many details, but to me this was a good book and I do recommend it. The good out weighed the annoying parts in this book. This book left me with all kinds of feels and I cannot wait to see what the third book has in store. If you decide to read the book let me know, and if you have read the book already stay tuned for the video full of spoilers =)

Vampire Academy Trailer Talk

BOOK TALK: Vampire Academy

Date Ideas Inspired By: Vampire Academy

This book was hard to do date ideas for, but with some thought I came up with a few. I hope you enjoy them! THESE DATES GIVE SPOILERS, IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK YOU MAY NOT WANT TO READ THIS POST.

1.) Rose loves action, fighting, learning how to protect Lissa, etc. If you want to feel empowered and get your adrenaline rush I HIGHLY recommend taking a kickboxing class or any self-defense class. I know many gyms will provide these classes for their members FOR FREE!!!! Taking classes like this can be fun to take with your partner or with friends. I have taken one with Chris and he liked knowing that after the class I knew a few new ways to take care of myself. (He is always making me learn self defense tactics incase I was every in a bad situation he's a worry wart.)
2.) If you are like Lissa and love animals than going to an animal shelter and helping with them can be fun! Many animal shelters like when people come to volunteer because they cannot always take out all the dogs for walks. You may not be able to bring back a dead animal like Lissa, but you can help give them the attention they are dying to receive. Be careful though you may come home with a new fur baby!!!
3.) Dmitri likes western novels. You could go to the book store together and try to find a novel that you both think would be fun to read together that was set in the west, or you could rent a western movie.
4.) Christian specializes in fire, and him and Lissa have some steamy romance in the attic starting in this book. You can snuggle up together by the fire and tell one another secrets that no one else knows about you. If you have a fire pit outside you can snuggle next to it and make smores while sharing your secrets and a few stolen kisses.
This book did not have many situations to work with for date ideas, but I am already reading the second book and it has many more options!! I hope you enjoyed this post and if you have any date ideas let me know in the comments =)

Vampire Academy Soundtrack

Hey guys! So I wanted to share with you guys the soundtrack for Vampire Academy! I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE music in movies. I truly believe that the music playing can empower a scene and really bring the audience's emotions to the surface. I may just be weird or a nerd but I always get excited over soundtracks. Music can play a huge role in getting the audience in the right mind frame for the scene that is playing. I always pray they pick good music, and I have to say this soundtrack is GREAT! It is full of fun songs, and all I could think was this is the PERFECT track to listen to when your girls are over, or in the car on your way to a girls night to go dancing. Which I think is BRILLANT because this book is all about high school and Rose and Lissa reminiscing about all the parties they have enjoyed over the years. They nailed it with the soundtrack. I literally laughed SO hard when I heard Red Lips because it really made me think of Rose and Mia! It was just the PERFECT song for both of them. I really like Boys Don't Cry it is so catchy I think it is such a fun song, and I was humming it the rest of the day. Bounce made me want to dance around the house all day, which I probably should had it would had been a killer workout. Rats was beautiful I LOVE Rainy Milo's voice. You cannot go wrong with Katy Perry. I could talk about all the songs because I loved them all. I cannot wait to have this CD If you are throwing a movie premier party you should defiantly have these songs playing. Even if you aren't having a party listen to the soundtrack on the way to the movie to get you in the zone, I know I will!! Let me know what you guys think about the music they picked. Are you liking it as much as I am?? Here is a link for the sound track to preorder Vampire Academy

Tea Of The Week

On a cold day nothing is better than sitting by the fireplace, with a blanket, a good book, and a nice hot cup of tea. This week has been pretty cold and extremely windy so I wanted a tea that was rich and warm. Stash's Chai Spice Black Tea is what has been hitting the spot this week. This tea is AMAZING it is very flavorful and is what I expect from a chai. The spices are very potent it is not a subtle tea so if you don't like the taste of ginger, cinnamon, cloves, spices similar to them, then please do not try this tea.
I love me some tea, but I am NOT one of those people who can drink tea plain. For this specific tea I love to let it cool a little bit than put some honey in it, and a little bit of fresh lemon juice. If I have a day that I feel like I am getting a little sick I will put some fresh ginger in it and it really gives it a nice kick. If you like your chai to be more of a creamy tea than milk and stevia go great with this tea and will give it that sweet thicker taste you are hoping for. I can always find this tea at my local grocery store, but if for some reason you can’t I will post a link for you guys because trust me it’s a great tea. It is more expensive online than it is at the grocery story I will put that out there, but if you cannot find it at the store I would recommend ordering it because its that good. I must tell you that I will be doing a recipe post for a pumpkin spice chai tea that will go PERFECT with a book this time of year!

Vampire Academy Book Thoughts

Vampire Academy was a quick read. I flew through it and I enjoyed it once I got over being confused. If you read this book and get confused on the names/types of vampires, power through my friend because it will finally click I promise. This is a book I recommend because as soon as I finished the book my first thought was to go get the second book immediately. There was mystery, action, comedy, romance, true high school drama, and weird friendships with some unique baggage. You get a diverse group of characters so I feel like it will be easy to connect with at least one of them throughout the series, but I will say I had a hard time investing emotions or connections with these characters in the first book. From everyone that I have asked this series is one that grows with every book. I enjoy series like that because you get the sense of the characters growing into their true selves. I would rather read a series that grew than one that had an amazing first book and the rest of the series is a complete disappointment and makes you wish you only read the first book. Like I said I do recommend this book, but it was not one of my favorites. It was just enough to make me want to continue with the series.

I know that some people may be wanting a small synopses of this book, but it really is one of those books that even if you give small details you are giving away too much. So with that being mentioned I highly recommend you going into this book blindly. If you do this there are numerous benefits the shock factor is going to be a billion times better, you will not have to worry about spoilers, and like I said it may not be a WOW THAT BOOK WAS AH-MAY-ZING but it is a fun and fast read. I am going to give the second book a chance and see how I like it, and then I will decide on if I will continue with the series. So if you are still debating if you want to give this series a chance, you can stay tuned and see my review on the second book. If you want to check the price or buy Vampire Academy  I have posted a link below. I hope you guys are having a great day!

What to expect from Books To The Tea

Hey guys! First I would like to say thank you so much for checking my blog out. I really hope you enjoy the blog enough to subscribe and keep coming back to see what’s new J Now I’m sure you guys want to know what to expect on this blog. This blog is called BOOKS TO THE TEA for a reason. This blog is going do reviews and discussions on books, but so much more. If you want recipes to go along with the book you got it. If a character in the book talks a lot about a certain food you can be certain that there will be a recipe posted. If you want not just a woman’s thoughts on a book, but also a man’s than look no farther, my husband will be doing some posts as well. We frequently read the same books, and I thought it would be nice to let our readers see the male’s point of view as well. I will also be doing fun date ideas that are center around certain books. I find that these dates are always fun for us booklovers and they really set the mood for you to be able to talk and discuss the book with your spouse. We also will be posting videos of reviews and spoiler videos for people that read the book with us and want to see our thoughts. Oh and did I mention there will be PLENTY OF GIVEAWAYS?!?!?! J

If you throw book club parties we will set you up with some pretty neat ideas. I love to wear outfits that I think go along with the main character in a book. I will do fashion posts as well, but I will NOT be posting shirts that may look PERFECT for the scenario but cost 400 bucks. I will find you outfits that help you ball on a budget. I want you to be able to feel in character when you go to a movie premier for your favorite book but not break the bank for it. (No I am not going to post costumes these outfits are going to be sleek and fashionable trust me.) You may be wondering why I spelt TEA like I did, well, I LOVE me some tea, and I often drink tea while reading books. I will be doing book and tea pairing posts to let you guys know what tea’s I enjoy.

I really hope you enjoy this blog and I look forward to hearing from you guys. We want this blog to be creative and fun. This blog will not be your average book blog and we promise to put our heart and soul into it. Thanks again for checking out BOOKS TO THE TEA J
