Friday Reads & TV Shows

Last week I did my Friday reads as a video, and that was suppose to be the plan for this week as well but everything went wrong. First the sun was not working with me at all today. I said I would always do my Friday reads by the fireplace (at least there's a picture!) and Mr. sun did not like that idea today. He made it impossible to do. Since the fireplace is close to my French doors there was no blocking the sun off. Then I got a new computer yesterday and it has window's 8 which I am not use to at all and the movie maker is completely different. For some reasons my videos would not upload to movie maker to edit. Everything has been so hectic and annoying, but when I think about it maybe it worked out for the best. I feel like my YouTube channel gets more love from me then the blog does maybe this is a way to change that. So without farther explanation here is my Friday Reads:
I will be reading Of Triton which I have already started and I am enjoying it. I am about 100 pages in. Even though I am enjoying it I am not enjoying it as much as I did Of Poseidon, but it is early in the game so I am not too worried about it we"ll see where it goes. Besides Of Triton I don't know what other books I will be reading this weekend. I don't like planning those things. I like to see how I feel after finishing one book and then search our bookshelves and see what books I have not read yet then see what book I am feeling.
Now on to the TV shows. Of course I will be watching Once Upon A Time I have to catch up. I am sadly still on the second season! I love this show so much and it is making me really want to get into reading retellings of fairy tales. Now that is my guilty pleasure, but Chris is determined to find a TV show he likes. Last night we watched House of Cards. We only watched the first episode and even though we thought it was odd we liked it. I cannot wait to see the next episode which we will be watching tonight! We will see if this is another show we get hooked on.
So that is my Friday reads & TV shows I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know what books you are reading and shows you are loving right now. I hope you guys are having a great Friday!

Of Poseidon

"Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen-literally, ouch!-both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom...Told from both Emma and Galen's points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance."

I really enjoyed Of Poseidon so much in fact that I have read it twice. Of Poseidon is the first book in the Syrena series, and this book is full of humor I was laughing from the very first page. The best part of this book was how much I laughed like a crazy person. Emma and Galen keep having strange encounters, and while Galen has an explanation for them, Emma just thinks he's a creepy stalker who wants to sue her for running into him ( more like ran into his chest...bare chest.) And while Galen is nice to look at Emma feels like only bad things happen when Galen is around, and just wants him to go away. Galen cannot leave Emma alone until he determines if Emma really is what he believes her to be. Only problem, how does Galen see if Emma has the gift he believes her to have if she runs away every time he tries to talk to her. I loved the dialogue between Emma and Galen. Is there insta love? Not really, Emma actually starts out not liking Galen. I would say there is more of a insta attraction and fascination.
This book is a great book to read after you have read an intense book and need a light and funny book with a small amount of suspense. There is a suspense factor in this book, but it can be obvious to some people. Most of the time I will get disappointed when the suspense factor is low, but I didn't care because I was floating on cloud nine with all the comedy and romance. How this book ends made me NEED the second book so I am so excited to start it =) I hope you guys pick this book up you will not be disappointed. If you doubt my thoughts on how funny this is I am going to insert the first two pages from the book. Yes it starts out this funny, and it only gets better!
“I smack into him as if shoved from behind. He doesn't budge, not an inch. Just holds my shoulders and waits. Maybe he's waiting for me to find my balance. Maybe he's waiting for me to gather my pride. I hope he's got all day.
I hear people passing on the boardwalk and imagine them staring. Best-case scenario, they think I know this guy, that we're hugging. Worst-case scenario, they saw me totter like an intoxicated walrus into this complete stranger because I was looking down for a place to park our beach stuff. Either way, he knows what happened. He knows why my cheek is plastered to his bare chest. And there is definite humiliation waiting when I get around to looking up at him.
Options skim through my head like a flip book.
Option One: Run away as fast as my dollar-store flip flops can take me. Thing is, tripping over them is partly responsible for my current dilemma. In fact, one of them is missing, probably caught in a crack of the boardwalk. I'm getting Cinderella didn't feel this foolish, but then again, Cinderella wasn't as clumsy as an intoxicated walrus.
Option two: Pretend I've fainted. Go limp and everything. Drool, even. But I know this won't work because my eyes flutter too much to fake it, and besides, people don't blush while unconscious.
Option Three: Pray for a lightning bolt. A deadly one that you feel in advance because the air gets all atingle and your skin crawls-or so the science books say. It might kill us both, but really, he should have been paying more attention to me when he saw that I wasn't paying attention at all.
For a shaved second, I think my prayers are answered because I go get tingly all over; goose bumps sprout everywhere, and my pulse feels like electricity. Then I realize, it's coming from my shoulders. From his hands.
Option Last: For the love of God, peel my cheek off his chest and apologize for the casual assault. Then hobble away on my one flip-flop before I faint. With my luck, the lightning would only maim me, and he would feel obligated to carry me somewhere anyway. Also, do it now.
I ease away from him and peer up. The fire on my cheeks has nothing to do with the fact that it's sweaty-eight degrees in the Florida sun and everything to do with the fact that I just tripped into the most attractive guy on the planet. Fan-flipping-tastic."

The Burning Sky: Spoiler Video

The Burning Sky

It all began with a ruined elixir and an accidental bolt of lightning…

Iolanthe Seabourne is the greatest elemental mage of her generation—or so she's being told. The one prophesied for years to be the savior of The Realm. It is her duty and destiny to face and defeat the Bane, the greatest mage tyrant the world has ever known. A suicide task for anyone let alone a sixteen-year-old girl with no training, facing a prophecy that foretells a fiery clash to the death.

Prince Titus of Elberon has sworn to protect Iolanthe at all costs but he's also a powerful mage committed to obliterating the Bane to avenge the death of his family—even if he must sacrifice both Iolanthe and himself to achieve his goal.

But Titus makes the terrifying mistake of falling in love with the girl who should have been only a means to an end. Now, with the servants of the Bane closing in, he must choose between his
mission and her life.

Sounds amazing right? Well it was beyond amazing and reminded me of Harry Potter. Now when I say that do not get scared it isn't a knock off of our beloved Harry Potter. What I mean is the world that Thomas creates is so creative and like the Harry Potter world so original and unlike any other fantasy world I have read about. Yes there is magic but it is not the magic you would find at Hogwarts. Thomas was brilliant enough to involve magic in her book, but she also gives the reader so much more to get excited about. Thomas entwines fairy tales into her story in a brilliant way, and puts her own creative spin on them that was so fantastic. There are parts that have mythology and I am obsessed with mythology. The characters are so on point that I fell in love with some characters and then I hated some characters so much, by the end of the book I felt like they were my archenemies.  This books has something for everyone and I don't think anyone would be disappointed in picking up this book. I loved it and I have a hunch that this book will be on my top ten books of 2014. Pretty bold statement right? I'm telling you this book is just that excellent. I hope you guys pick this book up because you won't be disappointed. Let me know if you do, and if you already have then you can watch where I give my thoughts on the book in my spoiler video. Stay tuned this week because I will be doing a post on recipes to go with this book. I will also be giving another post where you will see some of my favorite quotes from the book =) Don't forget to subscribe to the blog and YouTube! Have a day full of love, happiness, and books!

Valentine's Day Gifts For Book Lovers

Valentine gifts can be tricky and so I wanted to help you guys out. For the last two weeks I have been looking for all kinds of different types of gift ideas for you guys. There are some easy homemade ideas on here and also some you can buy I wanted to do some mix and matching. You may find books that are perfect for your valentine OR you may find a gift you want for yourself. If you give yourself a present on the day celebrating love GOOD FOR YOU! You have to love yourself and it is easy to forget about yourself. I think EVERYONE should give themselves something on Valentine's Day! Now without further anticipation I give you the gifts!!!!
  • If you want to go all out all the kindles
are on sale on amazon. I know so people are really against E-readers. I personally love mine. I still buy hard back books ( as you saw in that huge book haul) but sometimes E-readers really come in handy and make life easier. If I am reading late at night I prefer my E-reader because I can just prop it up beside me and not have to worry bout falling asleep and dropping the book on my face. ( Yes I have done that, don't judge me, it's the true life of a extreme book lover!) When we go on vacation I take multiple books and that can get very bulky very quickly.
  • Here is a DIY E-reader book cover that I thought was so neat, and it has step by step pictures and written instructions.
  • Now if you like the idea for the E-reader book cover BUT couldn't bring yourself to cut pages out of  a book (completely understandable!) I found another book cover that does NOT have you using a book, but it does have a little sewing involved. * On the link above it will send you to the cite where she is showing you how you can jazz up the original book cover. she has a link in the beginning taking you to the main tutorial I just thought some of you make like to see your options.
  • If you do sew then I HIGHLY recommend this next idea this cite! There are multiple book lover ideas that are AMAZING!!!! I love the couch organizer that has a space for a book!!! I will for sure be trying that one! They also have cute book marks and so much more!
  • If you are a Harry Potter fan and want to find something for yourself  your valentine then you will love how amazing this bracelet is and how inexpensive it is SCORE!
  • I am not this talented but if you are daring enough to make these PLEASE let me know!! This would be a good valentine's gift to yourself =) book earrings
  • A very easy and inexpensive gift is to make your own quote mugs. Find out your valentine's favorite book and quote and follow these simple instructions
  • Chris and I really like having "board game night" at our house and when I saw this I thought yup I have to get that.Book Lover's Scrabble
  • I just got this picture off of Pinterest and I love this idea. If you want to give books as your present BUT don't want to just hand them over, then wrap them!! Wrap them in simple pink or red wrapping paper ( you may have red already from Christmas score!!!) Or find some paper with hearts on it. I love this idea and we all have an inner child that gets excited to unwrap presents!!
I hope you guys found some gifts you like!  Don't forget to subscribe to the blog AND YOUTUBE =)

Divergent Trailer Reaction

I Cannot wait for the Divergent movie to come out!! In this video you will get to see my FIRST reaction to the new trailer. I love this book so much, and anytime I love a book I get frightened by the thoughts of it turning into a movie. Do you guys share that fear? If you have not read Divergent I HIGHLY recommend it. Divergent is one of my all time favorite books. It has been along time since I have read it, and I am debating on reading it again before the movie comes out. If you want me to read it again and do a review on it just comment down below =)  I hope you guys enjoy this video, and please do not forget to subscribe to the blog AND the YouTube channel as well =)

Hey guys so here is my book haul. You will notice some books in the background that I don't talk about. The reason is, I know I will have to wait to read them and I don't know how long it will be till I do get to read them. I want to wait and read some of them with Chris and since his schedule is so busy I don't know when we will get the chance to read together. I didn't want to talk about them and some viewers get excited and wait on a review when it could take awhile =) Hope you like the haul and my ranting over people talking on cell phone in books stores lol!

Tea Of The Week

"Say Goodnight with Our Bedtime TeaTuck yourself into bed and get a restful nights sleep with a cup of our Bedtime tea. this blend is an effective combination of herbs traditionally used for centuries to promote relaxation and sleep. Valerian and Organic Chamomile can help calm nervousness and restlessness. St. John's Wort is known for its positive effects on mood, while Passion Flower, used in Native American remedies, helps reduce common anxiety to support sleep. Licorice, Cardamom and Cinnamon add a delicious, warming flavor that's just right for drinking before bedtime. So, relax and drink Bedtime tea - for a good night's sleep."

Does this not sound scrumptious? With everything going on the last couple of weeks my sleeping schedule has been awful. I have trouble sleeping and have had to go to the doctor multiple times for it. I refuse to take actual sleeping pills so my doctor and I try to find natural products to help. I drink teas to help promote sleep often. One herb that is always mentioned is chamomile. I love chamomile and I do believe it helps promote relaxation, but sometimes it isn't enough. This tea has so many herbs to help promote relaxation and a restful sleep, and I can honestly say it works! This tea is unlike any tea I have tried before. It has a consistency like a normal tea, but it has a thick taste like you put milk or cream in it. I don't know how to describe it, it was so odd but in a wonderful way! I took a hot bath, made this tea, then grabbed a book to read in bed. By the time I finished the cup of tea I was so relaxed and sleepy I was shocked. I now get excited for bedtime because I know that I get to make my cup of tea. I cannot rave about this enough and I really hope you guys give this tea a try!
