Weekly Recap

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding The Raven Boys The West Woods The Dream Thieves This week has been pretty calm. The fall open house for our boutique went well last week. I think I'm overly exhausted from it, so I've been taking it easy. I am waiting on some job news so if you could send up a prayer or good vibes for me that would be appreciated!  The hubs and I took a trip to the next town over on Friday, and went to this cute indie coffee shop. It was so refreshing, and makes me wonder why I ever go to Starbucks.  Well it's mostly because we have zero indie coffee shops in our town, and someone needs to fix that!  While in the big city the hubs took me to the bookstore! I cannot tell you guys the last time we went together, and I cherish when we get the time to do so. I didn't find the books I was looking of, but it was just nice to stroll and look. I've been working on redoing my office. I really ...

Tea Time Talk: What I REALLY Think About Book Clubs

Disclaimer: This is all in good fun. I am not being mean or bashing book clubs. This is a discussion post, and I love that we all have different thoughts and ideas. It's what makes the world go round.  The Good Side To Books Clubs  It helps you get out of your reading comfort zone .  Getting out of your reading comfort zone can be scary. When you have friends that enjoy the same books you do, they can introduce you to new genres. You know you can trust their taste so it makes it easier to give it a try.  You get to try a book you might have never picked up for yourself, and love it.  There may be a book that you haven't heard of. Sometimes a member will pick an old hidden gem, and you wouldn't of known about this amazing book if it wasn't for them.  You get to talk books with friends!   I mean there isn't much to say about this but YAY  You meet new people that you already have something in common with.   ...

Review: The Raven Boys

Book Depository // Amazon // Audible Title: The Raven Boys  Series: The Raven Cycle #1  Author: Maggie Stiefvater  Pages: 409 Overall Goodreads Rating: 4.05 Published:  September 18th 2012 by Scholastic Press My Rating: 5/5 tea cups  Well the jury is out, and this book is everything that everyone says it is. I though there was no way it would hold up to the hype, but here I am eating crow (or raven). The Raven Boys is stunningly unique with heartbreaking love, and dark lyrical writing. I will say that if you go in thinking this book is about a girl fighting her fate of kissing and killing her first love, you are dead wrong. This book is so much more than that, and it will leave you breathless. This book is about character development. How they fight and refuse to play with the cards life hands them, and making their own family. Oh and there's also land lines, a dead prince, psychics, and tarot cards.  I am going to say what eve...

Top Ten Tuesday: Gateway Books Published 5, 10, 15 Years ago

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by   The Broke and the Bookish This week:  Gateway books published 5, 10, or 15 Years Ago Twilight Fun fact: I took a college a day the day Twilight came out in theaters. The reasons being so I could go to my favorite coffee shop, read Twilight before the movie, and have a date with a boy I had a crush on (who is now my hubby so win win). I have to say that was one of the best days I ever had.  This book got me back into reading like many of you, and I will always love Twilight for that.  Marked I read Twilight over, over, and over again. This was one of the first books that got me to end my Twilight reading marathon. I read many of the books, but lost interests after awhile. Too many books in the series for me.  Harry Potter I read Harry Potter my first year of college. The obsession was real, and still is.  The Lightning Thief Another fun fact: Chris and I love t...

Audio Review: The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding Series: A Fiendish Arrangement book 1  Author: Alexandra Bracken  Length: 10 hrs.  Narrated by: Kirby Heyborne Overall goodreads rating: 4.1 Published: Recorded Books My Rating: 5/5  This book was so much fun to listen to. It gave me the same feels that a fun Halloween Disney movie would. Anyone else remember Halloween Town? This quickly became a favorite for me, and it's a fantastic addition to the middle grade urban fantasy genre.  I went into this book pretty blind, and I think that is the best way to go into this epic adventure. This review will give a short description of the plot, but I won't go into too much detail.  Our main character Prosper comes from a family full of history, power money, and lies. Oh I almost forgot, and a demon. Prosper quickly learns his family is cursed, and of course with his luck, he is caught in the middle. Prosper has a demon living inside of him, ...

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves created by  Tyngas Reviews   is a weekly meme all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks. Audio books   Tower of Dawn While I am nervous about this I had to get it the second it came out.  The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding I have already finished this book! Every free second I had this week I was listening to this book. The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding is funny, addicting, and gives me all the feels of fall and Halloween! Review to come soon.  The Raven Boys So I am about 60% done with this bad boy, and the best word I know how to describe this book is original. It is so addicting, but I'm not sure how to review it, because I believe it's best to go in completely  blind.  T...

5 Reasons You Should Read How to Hang a Witch

Title:  How to Hang a Witch Series: How to Hang a Witch #1  Author: Adriana Mather Pages: 358 Goodreads Raiting: 4.05 Published:  July 26th 2016 by Knopf Books for Young Readers I wanted to make this a different type of review. I have talked about this book on here before, and if you need more convincing to read it look no farther!  Salem Witch Trials  I LOVE books about witches, and this book is no exception. Samantha has the wrong ancestors. She is related to Cotton Mather who is responsible for the trials in Salem. With Samantha being the nearest living descendant of Mather, the locals blame her for the trials. The welcome committed aren't handing out warm smiles and bake goods. Instead they are handing out hateful threats back upped with magic Backed Up History  The Author Adriana Mather is the 12th generation of Mathers! How cool is it that this history is in her blood? She writes with a knowledge of this time of his...
