In A Nutshell
This was a fun read with angst teenage love, drama, and draki's. I enjoyed this book and feel like it would be a good read to read or listen to on a summer day, during a reading marathon, or on vacation. The narrator was fantastic and she did well when it came to changing her voice for different characters and keeping my attention. This book wasn't mind blowing (it liked a little depth) but it was a book that I looked forward to listening to when I had some free time.
Your main character Jacinda is a draki who is taken from her draki life and thrown into high school where there are cute boys, mean girls, and all the angst that comes with it. Jacinda misses her old life and has to decide which life she wants to live. Does she take the chance of going back to her pride after leaving with her mother and sister, or try to live the life that her mother and sister want for her...a normal teenage life? What Jacinda needs to remember is that everyone has secrets and there are always people looking for drakis, she is never truly safe.

"A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.
Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki, a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.
Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away;if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.
Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide."

I liked this book and it was fun, but it didn't blow my mind. Firelight has all the angst love that goes hand in hand with YA. I was annoyed at times with the relationships in this book but found to really like them in the end. Jacinda is a fun lead character who has all the normally emotions a teenage girl has. Insecurities, thinking she knows best, rebellious, and I found her character enjoyable. I loved the details of the Draki world, and really wish that we got to see more of it instead of the normal world we are use to. I wanted to see more of how these worlds blend and how they coexist without many humans knowing. I also wanted to know more about the hunters, and how they actually hunt and find drake. I believe that the next book will go into more detail and I look forward to learning more about this world. I will read the next book, but I am in no rush to get to it. I do believe that this book was setting up for a crazy ride of a series if done right so I will not be stopping at the first book, there was  potential for a great series.

What did you guys think of this book, does the series get better like I believe it will? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. As always if you are a new subscriber please let me know so you can make my day =)

Review: My Soul To Take

Title: My Soul to Take
Series: Soul Screamers #1
Author: Rachel Vincent
Genre: YA Paranormal
Goodreads Overall  rate: 3.91
Pages: 279
Published: October 2nd 2012 by Simon & Schuster
MY RATING: 5/5 STARS

IN A NUTSHELL
This was such a fun and unique read!  I loved the loveable ones and I loved how much a disliked the "bad" characters. The concept of this book was profoundly unique and I REALLY wish I would have went into this book blind. I cannot recommend enough that if you do not know what this book is about just take my word for it and go by it right now and DO NOT look at the blurb on the back just read it!!! Sorry I am being forceful, but I promise you will not regret going into this one blind. If you already know what this book is about than don't worry, this book will hold up to everything you are hoping it to be. I loved this book so much that as soon as I finished I went ahead and bout the next THREE audio books because I knew I would want to fly through them!

Sorry guys I am not putting the Goodreads clip in this one because I am sticking to my guns. If you haven't read this book and you haven't heard of it than you really should go into this book blind. At first I was a little hesitant of this book but after reading this first chapter I was sold and I finished this book in a day. Now for me finishing a book in a day is HUGE because I am a messy wife who cannot afford a house cleaner, trying to take care of my parents, going to school full time, and doing student teaching. So the fact that I said to heck with everything I must read this book means a lot. Don't worry though I some how managed to get food on the table, the house was semi clean, and somehow I am doing well in school. The reason being why I loved this book so much is that the paranormal aspect of this book is truly unique. It was so refreshing and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what turns this book took with the fantastic and creative plot. I enjoyed the romance in this book but it was not the reason why I kept reading this book. In a lot of books I find myself reading the book only to see how the romance between the characters end. This book I was reading because of EVERYTHING! I know this review is short but that is simply because I do not want to give anything away. Please just take my word on this one, go and get this book, do not read the blurb on the back, go home and start the book asap!
Have you guys read this book yet? Please let me know your thoughts down below, and as always let me know if you are a new follower so you can make my day =)
PS: I have already started the second book and it is fantastic!!!!
Happy reading ya'll,
Ashley

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish

February 10: Top Ten Things I Like/Dislike When It Comes To Romances In Books (can do a full list or split it up in likes/dislikes or even things you want to see MORE of in romances in fiction)

What I do Like
A gentleman. It's nice to have a "bad" boy in the book, but I think it is important to let women know how they SHOULD be treated. I love when I read a book and the girl is treated with respect!
Love that is quotable. I LOVE quotes I have posts that are dedicated to book quote tattoos. I want to truly FEEL the characters love, and when an author is talented enough to throw in lines that sound like poetry I freak out and start debating on making it a tattoo, have it embroider on pillows, putting it on a hoodie, anything and everything. Don't hate!
Pay off to the build up Lets be real if I am going to read 365 pages of angst and build up, there better be an epic romance play out. No I don't mean I want a 50 Shades of Grey book, but I also don't want "and he kissed me and everything melted away. When he pulled away I looked at him and knew he was mine....the end" I want a JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT kind of romance going on know what I mean?
A happy ending contemporary romance. If I am reading contemporary romance I HAVE to have a fluffy, happy, and funny type of book. I pick up contemporary romance to get me in a good lovey mood. I NEED  a happy ending. Ex: Anna and the French Kiss series, Losing it, etc. ANY RECCOMANDATIONS????

What I DONT Like
    Insta love. Enough said.
No payoff. I want to see the couple as a actually couple!!! I hate when they FINALLY get together, and then we get only 20 pages of them actually together and then the book ends.
Sequel Separation  It is so annoying that we ALWAYS know that in the second book there will be drama and separation between the couple. I mean we FINALLY get them together and the end of book one, and book two they have drama and breakups. CANNOT I NOT HAVE A HAPPY COUPLE FOR A CHANGE? At least give me one book to fall in love with the actually couple and not just the thought of them being together.

I Want More
Romance books from the male characters perspective.
A bad girl turned good for love instead of always a bad boy turning good I get it, many of us love the bad boy in the book because we don't usually go for that type of man, and its fiction, but why does it always have to be the guy who is bad? Why cant we read more books about the lead female being the bad one and meeting a nice guy that helps her change her ways?
MORE gentleman lead roles I've already said yes I love the bad boys in books, but I do think that it is important to have gentleman lead roles especially in YA.

I really liked this Top Ten Tuesday I am so excited to see everyone's list! Let me know what you love, hate, and want more of in romance books in the comments or leave your link =) As always if you are a new follower please let me know so you can make my day!
Happy reading ya'll,

Books That Made Me Want To Workout

Okay so  I didn't make any resolutions this year, but I have been trying to be healthier. I've been hanging out with woman who take their health serious, my husband is REALLY into working out, and I am over here thinking about how Dunkin Donuts has their brownie batter donuts right now. Yeah I know, but I am trying I swear. The problem with me is I get bored extremely easy working out and I cannot find anything that truly keeps my attention and if I don't like something, I will not do it. I need motivation and I will be honest when I read a book that has a female character who talks about working out and she kicks butt, I cannot help but be motivated and I start to try new workouts.

So without farther rambling I will share some books/ characters that helped me get motivated to start working out more.

Alex is such a hard core girl. She works HARD and you get to see her struggles with working out. She works with a VERY sexy instructor doing hand on hand combat. Oh and the instructor is a guy she has had a crush on FOR YEARS. She HATES cardio, but pushes through it. She works out to get in the best shape she can be in to fight. If you are new to my blog then let me tell you, this is one of my FAVORITE books!!! I mean Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote it....enough said.

Tris has to work her butt off to prove herself, and she is truly empowering.

Selena is just all around kick butt girl. She is a assassin...enough said, but this girl still hates to run. She can kill someone without anyone else knowing, but the girl runs with the guard she trains with and she may or may not throw up. She fights through it and she powers through it. She works hard and the hard work pays off. In this book I felt like Selena showed me that everyone has their weak points. It is your decision to work on them and make them a strength not a weakness.

This was the first book that I read that really scared me. I didn't necessarily think that the exact concept would happen in true life, but it made my mind wonder. I couldn't help but think what the world could come to and how I would be the first one to be killed off. This book motivated me to get in shape in case I needed to run for my life....no joke this book really played mind games for me.

On a lighter note, this book made me want to swim ALL THE TIME!!! Belly is a swimmer and this book has beautiful descriptions about how Belly felt when she swam. It made me want to disconnect from the struggles in life, and just jump in the pool and swim till I felt at peace. In fact I truly did lose weight over the summer because I was so inspired by the connection Belly had with the water I wanted to understand it more. I swam all the time and loved it!

Again this is one of my FAVORITE books! Helen is on the track team and I am AWFUL at running. Fun fact in middle school I was the kid who faked sick to get out of running the mile. Yup I was that kid. I love Helen and she is such a strong character, but she doesn't know how strong she truly is. We ALL have struggles and I feel like most of us do not give ourselves where credit is needed. Helen faces her fears head on and finds her true self. This motivates me to look my fears in the eye and work hard on conquering those fears, and yes one of those fears is running.

Sydney is a control freak and she really worries what she eats. She watches how much sugar she eats and throughout the series she starts to see that she worries TOO much about what she eats and her weight. Sydney starts to work on balancing her diet. This book showed me I need to find a happy balance for myself.

So there are a few of the books that have helped me stay motivated to try to get in better shape. What books have helped you stay motivated to workout and get healthy? Be sure to let me know in the comments below and as always if you are a new follower please let me know so you can make my day!
Happy reading ya'll,

THIS WEEKS QUESTION:

Do you read more than 1 book at a time, and if so, how, like a certain amount of pages per book before moving on to the next one in the queue? - Suggested by Words I Write Crazy.

Yes I read more than one book at a time, actually I normally read one and listen to one. I will listen to one on the way to work, school, or to visit my parents. It really makes the drive go a lot faster. I LOVE to listen to a book while I am cleaning and cooking. I highly recommend listening to a great book while cleaning if you are like me and hate cleaning.
At night is when I read an actually book. Reading at night really relaxes me and helps me sleep better. I will start reading while soaking in the bath and then in bed till I pass out. I will also read on the couch while the hubby watches sports. I don't like all the sports he does, but I am perfectly happy snuggled up to him while he watches them as long as I have a great book and a yummy cup of tea.

How about you guys? I would love to know if you guys read more than one book at a time. Let me know in the comments below. If you made a post leave me a link, and as always if you are a new follower let me know so you can make my day =)
Hope you guys are having a great Friday!!

Tea Review: Davids Tea Cold 911

Cold 911

Emergency relief

Bad colds require kick butt interventions. Take this tea, for example. It’s a deliciously soothing mix of peppermint, juniper berries and apple. Pretty kick butt, right? If that’s not extreme enough for you, you could try eating raw garlic, or gargling salt water, or inhaling lots of steam. Yeah...we didn’t think so. Probably better just to stick to the tea. With its soothing citrus and mint aroma we can’t guarantee miracle results, but at least we can guarantee it tastes great. (MK Kosher)

Ingredients

Organic: Peppermint, apple, juniper berries. With natural eucalyptus and orange flavouring*.

So fun fact, while helping six year olds practice their reading you may will get spit on. Another fun fact when they are sick and spit on you, you will get sick and feel like the walking dead.
Times like this is why I am so happy that I stocked up on some of Davids Tea . Yup you guessed it after being spit on I was sicker than a dog. I was coughing, running a fever, my nose was stuffed up extremely bad, my eyes were swollen, my entire body ached. The hubby remembered I had some tea and he made me Cold 911  he put in some fresh squeezed lemon and a little honey to help coat my throat. Holy cow guys this stuff is great! No it isn't a miracle worker but it truly helped and I can tell you how I know. I like to hold my tea cup close to my face and smell it, I'm weird we already know this. When I went to smell this tea it smelt JUST like vicks vapor rub because of the eucalyptus in it. This helped me to be able to breathe again. After sipping on it my cough started to loosen up and the warmth of the tea made my body relax enough till I feel asleep almost immediately after finishing it.
I am still recovering but I have been making a cup of this tea every night at bed time and I look forward to it every night. This tea has a weird cooling taste to that I  have never tasted with any other tea and it is FANTASTIC. The peppermint and eucalyptus is the best combo for a nasty cold.
I am beyond happy I found Davids Tea and I highly recommend Cold 911!

So what are your thoughts? Have you tried David's Tea before? If so what teas do you recommend for me to try next? I've actually ordered their cold kits because while working with kids I am sick 70% of the time. Let me know your favorite teas in the comments.
