THIS WEEKS QUESTION:
Tell us about a book character you’d trade places with - Suggested by Escaping Within Pages

Okay I am almost certain that the character I chose will be chosen multiple times, because well how about I just show you what book the character comes from. DRUM ROLL PLEASE

Yup that's right I would want to be Tessa. Especially in this book (which is the last book in the series.) If you didn't know this series is one of my favorite series of all time. I love the world, the romance, the time era, EVERYTHING!!!!!!!  Tessa is your main character who plays in a lovely love triangle that I ate up and would love to take her place in =) I love almost every character in this series and would of loved to been part of their family type bond. I know that Tessa didn't have it made or easy BUT compared to a lot of my favorite book character Tessa is a walk in the park. Some of my favorite character go through so much heartbreak, challenges, PHYSICALLY challenges that I would kill over doing. I cant take a hike without painting and our dog turning around to check on me to make sure I haven't died. (Funny but not a joke, I REALLY need a treadmill or something.) Just talking about Tessa and how much I love this series makes me want to reread it! I may do that this weekend. What about you guys which character would you be? I LOVE this question it's so interesting I cannot wait to see who you guys pick. Leave a comment letting me know or a link to your blog. If you are a new follower make sure to let me know so I can follow you back.

*MY GIVEAWAY FOR SILVER SHADOW BY RICHELLE MEAD IS STILL GOING ON* You have to scroll to find the post though =( I still haven't figured out how to get a widget to put on the side of my blog that lets you know I have a giveaway going on and that you just click it. Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine   that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Talon (Talon #1) By Julie Kagawa
Publication Date: October 28th 2014

"Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.

Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.

Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons"

WHY I'M WAITING
So I have never read a book about dragon slayers. When I read this I was beyond intrigued. I love the idea of our main character questioning if killing dragons is a good or bad thing. I'm interested to see the world building in this book. Where dragon slayers aren't human, but pretending to be human, oh and lets just throw in having a secret society. LOVE secret societies because if done right it's believable, and can leave a reader with such vivid details that the you start to question if these societies be real.
I haven't heard much about this book. If you have please let me know what you have heard or if you have read it (LUCKY) then please share your thoughts. What are you waiting on this Wednesday? Leave a comment letting me know or a link to your blog. If you're a new follower make sure to let me know =) Have a good Wednesday ya'll!

Back to School: Recommendations & Rereading Books.

This BACK TO SCHOOL segment I have started is really exciting for me. I have a outfit inspired Percy Jackson style post if you want to check that out, and there are going to be more to come. I want to help you guys with the stress of school the best way I know how. There is nothing worse then getting a book and start reading and it letting you down or you just cant get into it. In times like this I like to revert to my favorite books. Go and grab a book you already know you love and that makes you laugh. You haven't read it in awhile and chances are you remember the major parts of the books, but you don't remember it all. There are always specific lines in your favorite books that made you love and treasure that book. Most of the time it is little things that add up that made you love it, and little things are easily forgotten at times. If you are one of the people who do not like to reread books then don't fear. I am going to show you some of my favorite books and hopefully you can find a new favorite =) * I am not showing some of my favorites because they are so popular ex: Percy Jackson, The Infernal Devices series, Harry Potter,  Anna and the French Kiss, Throne of Glass, etc*
  • IF you are one of those people who do not reread books and want some suggestions then here are SOME of my favorite books.
If you want to laugh out loud then I HIGHLY recommend this YA book. I loved every second of this book. I read this when I first started college and if you want honesty here it is. I skipped class to go and get the second book in this trilogy because I couldn't wait I HAD to have it. I do not recommend that I just had to share how desperately I needed it. I NEVER skip if that tells you anything.

This book is written by Jennifer L. Armentrout for some of you that is all I need to say. Others who have not discovered JLA's writing this is the perfect time to do so. It doesn't matter which book you pick up of hers because you wont be disappointed. She is on of the best authors out there hands down. I loved everything about this series. Alex your main character doesn't need anyone to take care of her. She is starting school too (although it is a different type of school) and she is going through a lot that you maybe too. She has haters, good friends, crushes, a smart mouth, and some awful instructors.....and some sexy ones too. I loved everything about this book it has something for everyone.

This is one of the most incredible and unique book I have ever read. I know people who hate EVERY book, and even they raved about this book. If you are picky about books then this is the one I recommend for you. I cant explain this book too much without giving anything away. Just know that this book is a great escape because it captivates you into their world. Expect the unexpected and get ready for one heck of a ride. This book does have romance but has more of a science fiction suspense kind of book. I LOVE IT!!!

It has been soooo long since I read this book, but I can still remember how much I loved it. Kami is smart and witty which I loved. The plot was so suspenseful for me. There were some aspects I saw coming, but mostly I couldn't figure out what was going to happen till the very last page. I haven't read the second book but I feel like I should reread this one before I do.
I stumbled upon this book by complete coincidence. It was calling for a terrible snow storm and while the lights were flickering I just bought the first books I saw on my nook just so I would have SOMETHING to read incase the lights went out. I am so glad that I got the chance to read this book because it is AMAZING I thought I would be fun to just insert my updates on goodreads while reading this book. Oh and the second books is just as good =)

03/17/2013 page 128
30.0% "I freaking LOVE this book so far! love love love"
03/17/2013 page 200
48.0% "I'm dying over here! My nook died,I ran *yes I really ran. might of almost tripped over the clothes that have not been folded yet becuase I can't stop reading* to get my charger hoping I could get the nook pluged in fast enough so the nook wouldn't die. FAIL!!! Now I have to wait 15 mins before it will turn on, and that feels like 100000000 hours right now!I guess you could say I'm kinda liking this book"

I hope that this helped you guys. What are some of your favorite books to reread? Please let me know so I can add some to my TBR =) Happy reading ya'll

Audiobook Review: Spirit Bound By:Richelle Mead

Series: The Vampire Academy book #5
Overall Rating on Audible: 4.5/5
Published: Published May 18th 2010 by Penguin Razorbill
Hours: Length: 13 hrs and 11 mins
My Rating 5/5

"Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong...

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's-and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. And this time he won't rest until Rose joins him... forever."

Okay I did the info about this book a little different since I listened to the audiobook. I used the Audible rating instead of Goodreads, and the hours/length instead of pages. If you guys don't like this then just let me know. I just thought that this would be more relatable. I also did not put a favorite quote because my picks were spoiler lines. In a nutshell I LOVED this audiobook! I have already talked about the narrator and how fantastic I think she is, and it was no different in this book. Now the story in general was GREAT and by far the best book out of the series. I couldn't turn it off. I ignored my family the entire day. Let me paint you a picture. I wake up early, use my audible app so I can listen to the book on my phone. I put my headphones on and enter the vampire world for the next 13 hours. My husband could have had a party, a tornado could of blown through town, my dogs could of tore all my clothes in my closet, and I wouldn't of noticed any of it. I went about doing my daily cleaning, but I feel like I was so captivated in Meads world that I was blind of the world I was living in. Do any of you guys get like that while listening to an audiobook or is it just me?
For me this was the first book in the series that didn't have any parts that were slow. Straight out the gate you are on the edge of your seat because of the note Rose got at the end of the last book. And let me tell you friends you stay on the edge of your seat the entire time. I was literally waiting for Dimitri to just pop out of the blue like a big bad wolf. I cant tell you how anything happens but man was it interesting. Heck I will give you a small hint: There are twist and turns and some of them are going to leave some of you very happy and some of ya'll are going to probably be mad. Personally I didn't mind any of Meads choices I saw where she was going with them. Writing this review is difficult because I want to spoil you guys on everything! All that happens is so jaw dropping amazing that I just want to share my feelings on all of them. I may write a spoiler review just talking about my favorite parts and the shocking moments. If you guys would like that just let me know =) If you cant tell I really enjoyed this book, and was pleasantly surprised by how much the story lines and characters improved for me. Was this your guys favorite books of the series? Let me know your thoughts on everything that happens =) I love when ya'll leave comments.

Audiobook Review: Blood Promise By:Richelle Mead

Series: The Vampire Academy (#4) By: Richelle Mead
Overall Rating on Goodreads: 4.39
Published: August 25th 2009 by Penguin Razorbill
Pages: 503
Favorite Quote: "There was a lot of apologizing going on, but I realized that was how it was with people you cared about. You forgave each other and moved on.”
My Rating: 4/5 stars

"The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters ... Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?"

This was the first audio book I listened to and I loved it! Emily Shafter is great! To me it felt like she nailed everyone's voices and attitudes. Her voice always kept my attention and she made everything feel authentic and not sound like she was reading from pages, it felt like it was all happening to her. If you haven't listened to an audiobook before then I suggest starting with the Vampire Academy books. Now I know you may be wondering why I went from reading the first three books, then listening to the audiobooks. I did this because the last few months have been very busy and sadly I haven't had as much time to sit and read like I use to. Audiobooks help me with this issue and lets me read listen while I do my day to day tasks.
Now on to the actual book review. This book broke my heart. It crushed me from the start. At the end of Shadow Kiss we knew that Rose was going to go and find her love, and kill him. Mead didn't sugar coat anything and it left this book raw, honest, and tragic. There weren't too many sweet parts in this book, but their were tons of emotions and nervous energy. This book is more dedicated to just Rose and her journey, but of course there is some parts with Lissa. I know some of you will get mad at me for saying this, but I really do not like Lissa. I feel like she expects the world to revolve around her. She is made out to be the girl that everyone loves and a gentle spirit, but I do not see that at all. I see a spoiled baby who wants what is only best for her and puts everyone else on the back burner. Rose has done nothing but put Lissa first her entire life, and Lissa still cannot be humble enough to understand Rose has her own business she now has to take care of. It is no longer the Lissa show and Lissa can't live in a world where it isn't. So she spends the entire book trying to make it yet again all about her. Sorry about the rant I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings that's just how she made me feel and I will always be honest in my reviews. My heart broke for Rose and I wished desperately she had her best friend to help her through her grief.
Rose sets off to find Dimitri and finds herself meeting his family and becoming close to his younger sister. Rose loves Dimitri's family already, and because of this she cant seem to find it in her to tell them that he has been turned. Does she find the strength to let them know? What if she just decided to stay there with them, and look after his family for him instead of trying to hunt Dimitri down? Or does she find the strength to carry on with her mission of finding her true love, and killing him? I have one word to describe the scenes, DRAMA.
Rose does find a some what friend in the alchemist Sydney. I LOVED Sydney she cracked me up with how snarky she was. I felt like Sydney tried to be more of a cold person then she really is deep inside. She was Rose's friend when she needed one, even if Sydney didn't really know it. Heck I'm not sure if Rose even really knew. I hope that we see more of Sydney.
Did you guys like this book? Let me know in the comments below =)

Opal By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Series: Opal (Lux #3) By: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Overall Raiting on Goodreads: 4.42
Published: December 11th 2012 By: Entangled Teen
Pages: 382
Favorite Quote: “You haven't been smiling much. I missed it, so I decided to reward you for doing it." "Reward me?" I laughed. "God, only you would think kissing someone is a reward." "You know it is. My lips change lives, baby.”

No one is like Daemon Black.

"When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it"

Holy alien babies this book was fantastic! Opal was a turning point in this series. This book picks up right were the second book left of. Dawson is back and ready to take the DOD down and do whatever it takes to get Beth back. Katy is changing she feels like she isn't the sweet innocent Katy that she once was. Katy feels more lost then ever. She needs her best friend Dee, but will things ever be the same with them again? If it wasn't for Daemon helping her remember who she truly is she would be long gone by now. I couldn't put it down. There was romance like never before. We finally get to see Katy and Daemon as a couple and it was fantastic! Daemon is the perfect sexy boyfriend who can do the sweetest things for Katy, and still not lose his bad boy side. Daemon is happy to have his brother back, but is scared that he will lose Dawson all over again when Dawson keeps trying to get Beth back. The only chance they have to keep Dawson is to try to help him get Beth back. So what do they decide to do? Break into the DOD of course. Will this be a suicide mission or can they truly do what no one has been able to do before?
There were no slow parts in this book. On every page there is something happening, twist and turns, enemies showing up, friends becoming enemies, and so much more! JLA always leaves you with the best cliffhangers. She leaves you no choice but to buy the next book as soon as you read the last sentence. When in doubt ALWAYS pick up a book written by JLA because she will never let you down. JLA puts you on an emotional rollercoaster and by the time the ride is over you are ready to get back on. What are you waiting for? Jump on the Lux rollercoaster you wont be disappointed, you'll never want the ride to end.

Audiobook Review: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Series: (The Lunar Chronicles #3 By: Marissa Meyer)
Overall Rating on Goodreads: 4.50
Published: February 4th 2014 by Feiwel & Friends
Pages: 550
Favorite Quote: “Maybe there isn’t such a thing as fate. Maybe it’s just the opportunities we’re given, and what we do with them. I’m beginning to think that maybe great, epic romances don’t just happen. We have to make them ourselves.”
My Rating: 4.5/5

"In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has."

If you read my Stacking the Shelves post then you know that I have the hard copy of this book, but saw that my library had the audio, and I decided to see how I liked the auto book. I am so glad I gave it a chance because this is a HUGE book, and I am not the biggest fan of HUGE books, let me list the reasons why.
  1. You cant marathon through it. There are some days where I just want to wake up early and read all day and finish my book in one setting. I am a slow reader and couldn't do this with a big book.
  2. There is so much information I feel like sometimes it is too much thrown at the reader all at once.
  3. I know this is weird but when I read a big book for HOURS and have hardly made a dent I feel frustrated and discouraged that I will ever finish.
All of these reasons are main points of why I gave Cress a 4.5 instead of 5, and why I chose the audio book. The audio book was great I loved the reader and her voices for each character. The audio helped me with my frustration because I wasn't looking at a page number and seeing how much farther I had. The audio book was 16 hours long so I couldn't listen and finish it in one setting, but it was the best I could get to it. The story its self was brilliant and kept my attention through the entire story. There were no slow parts and it was full of action, mystery, and a little romance. I loved how in this book it felt like the Cinder from the first book. Snarky, funny, honest, brave, and a little vulnerable. If you didn't know Cinder is my favorite character and I loved everything about her in this book! I literally laughed out loud at some parts in this book. I sobbed  got teary eyed at a few parts. Meyer's mind is so creative and brilliant. She put twists and turns in this book that I NEVER saw coming and I loved that!  Like in Scarlet there are multiple POVS. I wasn't confused in this one because of the reader's voice would change with each character so I cant tell you how it is from a "reading" point of view. Meyer has such a way with toying with your emotions in this best way, and I love the messages that her books underline about prejudice and equality. For a fictional fantasy book we all could learn something from her books. Who are we to think higher or lower of someone because of our differences. Meyer buts a creative twist on the awful situations thinking like that leads to, and in the end thinking like that always leads to division and war.
The main reason for the 4.5 for me was because there was SO much going on in ONE book. I almost felt overwhelmed with all the information, and was trying to remember everything incase it played a big role later on. I have this problem with most big books. If you don't have this problem then I feel it's safe to say that you would rate this book a 5/5. How do you feel about big books? I know a lot of people prefer them unlike myself.

Weekend Reads

When I made videos I use to do a Friday's reads every week. I really enjoyed letting you guys know what I would be reading in my free time so I decided to still do it in a blog post.

WHAT I AM READING

"Rising sea levels, droughts, earthquakes, tornadoes. Far below the earth’s crust, imprisoned in ancient slumber, the elemental powers of the land grow restless…

Meanwhile, in small town Virginia, Chloe McClellan’s first day of sophomore year was an epic fail. After she becomes the target of the fiery queen of the It-Girls in gym, she gains instant notoriety when she’s struck by lightning. That’s when things start to get weird.

There are disconcerting gaps in her memory, and freaky weather seems to follow her everywhere. She comes to believe that either she’s going insane, or her accident has awoken a terrifying creature from mythology, triggering the final countdown to the extinction of humankind.

Chloe finds unlikely help from a trio of male classmates: the grounded captain of the football team, the flighty stoner with a secret, and the enigmatic transfer student who longs for the sea. All the while, she struggles with the growing realization that dragons exist, and she, and her friends, may be the only ones who can stop them.

In the first book in the epic new Tipping Point Prophecy series, global dragon mythology is reimagined against a backdrop of ecological disaster, high school angst, and the power of the human spirit when working in accord with the elements."

I received this ark earlier this week. I was really excited because it sounds really fascinating. I am about 60 pages in. I have to say it does keep my interests, but it isn't as fast paced as I was hoping. I feel like I am getting to a point where it will start to pick up so fingers crossed. I have real high hopes for this book.

LISTENING TO ON AUDIO

EEEEK I am so excited for this. I will have the first two books reviews up soon. ( I am sorry I am so behind on my reviews. It's the price I pay for taking a break from blogging.) I LOVE this series maybe even more The Vampire Academy series. I will be listening to this while doing house work, while I will more then likely read The Elemantalist at night before bed.
What are you guys reading this weekend? I would love to know so don't be shy, leave me some comments. Happy reading ya'll! =)

Back to School: Percy Jackson Style

As any fangirl or fanboy wherever you go you want to show your love of books. Being lovers of books we are a unique kind. We crush over fictional characters, they become our best friends, when they hurt we hurt. Books are our escape, our passion, our fun, hobby, friend, books are our lives. Pride comes with being a book nerd and it's something you should embrace. These books we love sometimes take over. We love them so much we want to be a part of that world. I wanted to help find ways for you to always feel close to your favorite books and characters.
This week I wanted to do Percy Jackson because I mean who doesn't like Percy Jackson?! These outfits are loosely inspired by some of the loved characters from The Percy Jackson series or the book covers. I stayed on pinterest for hours (shocker right?) to find outfits that have simple pieces that you can find in your closet or wouldn't be hard to find for a good price at stores. I also wanted to find outfits that could easily be tailored to your needs such as if your school has a dress code. My high school was pretty hard core on dress codes so I tried to remember their rules while I was looking for outfits.
Annabeth
When I saw this picture I thought of a story line to go with this outfit. I thought of Annabeth at one of her schools she had to go to while waiting on longing the day she would get to go to camp Halfblood. While she is in the "real" world she cant exactly go around telling people her mother is the god Athena. So to still feel connected to her mother she wears owl jewelry to symbolize her mother. A cozy sweater and comfy shoes fit Annabeth's style. Plus the sneakers are something she can run in if she finds herself in trouble...which is often thanks to being a halfblood.
Simple and cute. I could imagine this as an outfit Annabeth would pick to wear out on a date with
Percy. Maybe wear the blue purse because she knows blue is Percy's favorite color <3

Percy
I'm not sure if Percy would be stylish enough to pick an outfit like this, but it is awesome! I think we all swoon over Percy and imagine him a very attractive dark head model. This outfit is sexy Percy worthy. Of course you cant forget his handy pen!
I had to pick some girl outfits that are Percy inspired. I love this outfit because it's simple. The anchor is perfect to represent Percy's water element. It's almost an end to summer so you can probably find a loose thin long sleeve shirt or short sleeve t-shirt with an anchor on it for cheep on a summer ending sale. It would still be cute with jeans, but also red jeans will probably be on sale because it is a "summer" red and not more of a fall/winter burgundy. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find a pen necklace, but etsy has everything!
It may be the pearls that got me (a southern girl loves her pearls) but I love this outfit so much! It's so simple, but I can see the Percy Jackson inspiration easily in this picture without it being too in your face. Blue striped hoodies are easily to find if you don't already have one. The hat I know most schools wouldn't let you wear so this could be a fun accessory to wear outside of school or on the weekends.
Thalia

Dark jeans, a dark tank, and a leather jacket and you have yourself a Thalia inspired outfit! This is such a easy chic outfit that is easy to pull together.

Artemis

Now I am from the south so plaid is a must. Is it from you're from too?
Get a woodsy color tank top, put a plaid long-sleeved shirt on, and add the hiking boots and you're ready for school....or a hike.
I'm not exactly sure why this is considered an Apollo outfit besides the ring, but it is super cute!

The Last Olympian

Now at my school you had to have sleeves on your shirt, but this shirt could be substituted with a long sleeve black shirt that had embellishments similar to this one.

If you guys liked this post please let me know in the comments and I will make similar posts. If you have a book you would like me to use as inspiration just leave it in a comment =) *ALSO DONT FORGET MY GIVEAWAY OF SILVER SHADOWS BY RICHELLE MEAD THAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW*

Title: Chasing Power
By: Sarah Beth Durst
Publishing Date: October 14th 2014
Lies, secrets, and magic — three things that define Kayla's life.

Sixteen-year-old Kayla plans to spend her summer hanging out on the beach in Santa Barbara and stealing whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. Born with the ability to move things with her mind — things like credit cards, diamond rings, and buttons on cash registers — she has become a master shoplifter. She steals to build up a safety net, enough money for her and her mom to be able to flee if her dad finds them again. Well, that, and the thrill of using her secret talents.

But her summer plans change when she's caught stealing by a boy named Daniel — a boy who needs her help and is willing to blackmail her to get it. Daniel has a talent of his own. He can teleport, appearing anywhere in the world in an instant, but he lies as easily as he travels. Together, they embark on a quest to find and steal an ancient incantation, written on three indestructible stones and hidden millennia ago, all to rescue Daniel's kidnapped mother. But Kayla has no idea that this rescue mission will lead back to her own family — and to betrayals that she may not be able to forgive... or survive

Magic, teleporting, suspense, blackmail, and stealing ancient incantations... Sold! I love the idea of this book. Teleporting back in time to find ancient incantations that are written on three indestructible stones how cool does that sounds? If done right I think this book will be fun to read mostly because of the time traveling to the magical past. Our main character Kayla is having to do this all with a boy that lies so good you never know what's true or a big fat lie. How can she trust someone that cant even tell her the truth? Her life sounds like its really held in this boys hands. Oh and it seems like Kayla's family may be part of the kidnapping of Daniels mother. There just sounds like so much epicenes going on in this book I can't handle the potential this book has! What are you waiting for this Wednesday? Leave me a comment with a link to your post or if you don't have a blog still tell me I would love to know! As always if you are a new follower please let me know so I can get excited =) Happy reading ya'll!

Review: Onyx By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Series: The Lux #2
Average Rating on Goodreads: 4.40
Published: August 14th 2012 By: Entangled Teen
Pages: 366
Favorite Quotes:
“Your mail could've waited." Daemon followed me into the kitchen. "What is it? Just books?"
Grabbing the OJ from the fridge, I sighed. People who didn't heart books didn't understand.”
My Rating 4.5/5 Stars

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

In the second book of the Lux series things are more series then ever. This book is darker then the first with secrets being held that could destroy friendships and lives we learn that sometimes when we think we are protecting the ones we love we are truly setting ourselves up for self destruction, and end up hurting loved ones worse then we think could ever be possible. This book was still fun to read but because of characters choices I found myself yelling at the book in frustration (yes I talk to my books...no judgment.)
Katy has too much on her plate this time around, and doesn't know how to handle everything. Now being linked to Daemon she finds herself having weird things happening. She wants a drink from the fridge she finds that the container has exploded and a drinking glass in the cabinet shattered. little things like this are occurring more and more everyday. On top of these weird situations she has Daemon trying to prove his love, and she's scared of her feelings for him. Does he really love her or is it just their connection, and how does she over come the hurtful things he has said to her before? Then there is the new boy Blake who seems to like Katy just for her and not because of some weird connection, but what Katy has seemed to have forgotten is not everything is what it seems.
In this book I was frustrated with Katy the most. While trying to protect the ones she loves she is setting everyone up for chaos. I understand why she isn't telling everyone the truth, but its in every book we read when someone keeps IMPORTANT information from others in their group crap goes down. I was waiting for it to explode in Katy's face and boy did it ever. I cant tell you what happens, but it left my mouth open in shock and tears rolling down my face. Don't get me wrong though this didn't make me not like the book because I loved it! I know sometimes getting frustrated with a character can leave you pissed and not wanting to go farther on, but I understood Katy's reasoning's. She had the best intentions but as the reader I knew that she was setting herself up. The frustration I had with this is the only reason I gave this book a 4.5 instead of 5 stars.
Now on to the good stuff or aka Daemon and all his sexy ways! I really started to love Daemon in this book. He was tremendously funny when he was jealous of Blake ( the new boy.) I laughed harder in this book then the first one and didn't think that was going to be possible! Daemon has a sweet, compassionate, caring, and deep side of him that really shines in this book. It was nice to see the sides of Daemon I knew were there hidden under his bad boy persona.
This book really starts the love connection that may be growing between Katy and Daemon. Daemon starts to show Katy how he feels. Katy is still hurt from all the terrible things Daemon had said and done to her in the past, and because of this she fights her feelings for him. She's too afraid of him and getting hurt. She wants a love like her mom and dad had, and she believes Daemon just isn't capable of giving her that kind of love. Even though she fights it she cant deny the chemistry they have and all the sweet things Daemon is doing for her, and boy is he putting it on thick.
I loved this book and it was packed full with shockers, action, romance, and comedy. I have to say this book probably had a more dominant plot and took a more serious feel then the first book. Oh my goodness it has a HUGE cliffhanger that had me buying the third book as soon as I finished the last sentence. I had to know what was going to happen next! Let me know your thoughts, and as always if you have any recommendations let me know =)

Book Review: Shadow Kiss By: Richelle Mead

Series: Vampire Academy book #3
Average Rating on Goodreads: 4.43
Published: November 13th 2008 by: Razorbill
Pages: 443
Favorite Quote: “Throughout history, people with new ideas—who think differently and try to change things—have always been called troublemakers.”

It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been feeling quite right. She's having dark thoughts, behaving erratically, and worst of all... might be seeing ghosts.

As Rose questions her sanity, new complications arise. Lissa has begun experimenting with her magic once more, their enemy Victor Dashkov might be set free, and Rose's forbidden relationship with Dimitri is starting to heat up again. But when a deadly threat no one saw coming changes their entire world, Rose must put her own life on the line - and choose between the two people she loves most.
So I have to be honest here, I am a HUGE baby. Yup I get freak out extremely easy and will stay up late freaking out with ever noise that I hear. Yes I am a grown married woman with two dogs that would attack anything they thought would hurt me, but still I am the biggest baby you could imagine and I freak myself out all the time. With that being sad said, when I first started reading this book I freaked myself out big time. Rose is seeing ghost or at least thinks she is.. maybe she is going crazy? She goes through such a dark time in this book you cant help but feel sorry for her. Not gonna lie there were some parts I had to put the book down and walk away because I was freaking out a little bit. For you guys who have read this book you are probably laughing, but I am telling you I am a scardy cat. I had to get that confession off my chest now on to the actual review.
Yes at first I was intrigued by the fact that Rose may or may not be going crazy from everything that she has been through, but after that element wore off I felt the book was kinda slow in the middle. I hate to say that because I do like this book, but it was sadly one that at times was super fast paced, but then other times I had to push myself to get through.
Once I got over the slow part it picked right back up and boy were there some twist and turns. Lissa is trying to control her magic even more oh and Victor is back in the picture with news that Rose desperately needs. Victor may be the only person that can help Rose, and speaking of Rose boy does she have a lot of drama on her plate. She just wants to graduate and be Lissa's guardian. Her final days of school are starting with exciting challenges that will indicate if she passes or fails becoming a guardian. When she is suppose to be showing her teachers everything she can do, her "issues" are messing her up. I couldn't help but at times connect Rose to Mara Dyer if you have read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer you know that you couldn't tell if she was actually seeing things or slowly unraveling this is how I felt about Rose at times.
Who can Rose tell that she is seeing ghosts and not just any ghost she starts seeing Mason, and Mason keeps acting like he wants to talk to her but he cant. Mason's has the worse timing when it comes to showing up, and causes Rose to struggle with keeping this issue a secret. And if Mason is coming back from the dead to tell her something what could be so important? Is he blaming her for his death and now haunting her, or is he trying to warn her of something? Can she tell anyone or will they write it off as traumatic stress and hold her back from becoming a guardian? Then there is the one person she wants but cant have, Dimitri. Of course we have to have the love tug-a-war with Rose and Dimitri because lets be honest, it really isn't a Vampire Academy book if we don't get some R&D time. Then there is Adrian who we get to see a little more of. We see from the start that he has a thing for Rose, but who doesn't?
This is one of those books that so much happens near the end that you start to look at how many pages are left and panic, because you know there isn't enough pages left. You start preparing yourself for a huge cliffhanger and answers left un said. Even with preparing myself my jaw hit the floor and I was not prepared at all. I have never read a book that had such a ending like this one. I couldn't do anything until I got the next book. Shadow Kiss gives you no option of stopping the series at this point. I advice waking up extremely early to read this book, because once you finish it you wont go to bed till you have at least got a couple of chapters into the next book. You have been warned. The emotional roller coaster you will go through in this book will be like nothing you have read before. Let me know your thoughts on Shadow Kissed. Are there any other scardy cats out there or is it just me? Did you enjoy Shadow Kissed as much as the first two? Happy reading ya'll!

The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling #1) By: Erika Johansen

"On her nineteenth birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa. But though she may be inexperienced and sheltered, Kelsea is not defenseless: Around her neck hangs the Tearling sapphire, a jewel of immense magical power; and accompanying her is the Queen’s Guard, a cadre of brave knights led by the enigmatic and dedicated Lazarus. Kelsea will need them all to survive a cabal of enemies who will use every weapon—from crimson-caped assassins to the darkest blood magic—to prevent her from wearing the crown.

Despite her royal blood, Kelsea feels like nothing so much as an insecure girl, a child called upon to lead a people and a kingdom about which she knows almost nothing. But what she discovers in the capital will change everything, confronting her with horrors she never imagined. An act of singular daring will throw Kelsea’s kingdom into tumult, unleashing the vengeance of the tyrannical ruler of neighboring Mortmesne: the Red Queen, a sorceress possessed of the darkest magic. Now Kelsea will begin to discover whom among the servants, aristocracy, and her own guard she can trust.

But the quest to save her kingdom and meet her destiny has only just begun—a wondrous journey of self-discovery and a trial by fire that will make her a legend…if she can survive.

The Queen of the Tearling introduces readers to a world as fully imagined and terrifying as that of The Hunger Games, with characters as vivid and intriguing as those of The Game of Thrones, and a wholly original heroine. Combining thrilling action and twisting plot turns, it is a magnificent debut from the talented Erika Johansen."
Can I just take a minute to tell you how BEAUTIFUL this book is in person?! I literally squealed when I picked it up at the bookstore. It has thick old looking pages, and a deep red attached ribbon bookmark. The cover is absolutely gorgeous the picture does NOT give it justice. I am beyond excited about this book and cant wait to start it, and I love how beautiful it looks on my shelf.
Audio Book/Library Book
Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) By: Marissa Meyer
In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow.

Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
So I know I have this book in hard cover, but when I went to my library today I saw that they had it in audio form and I had to have it. Cress is a huge book, and through out the day while I work around the house I love to listen to an audio book. I feel like I am getting work accomplished, and getting a book scratched off my TBR. Sorry about the bad picture, I had to take just a picture of the binder because my library likes to put a HUGE sticker with our local town, zip code, etc. on the front of the audio books.

*I need to say that I went on a reading rampage when it came to the Lux series by JLA this week. I have read the first three already this week, and starting on the fourth, sorry not sorry! I am in love with this series and cannot recommend it enough! I have a review up for Obsidian and reviews for the other books on the way =)

Obsidian (Lux #1) By: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is
I already have a review of Obsidian up. I finished that sucker in a day. I freaking loved it holy alien babies did I love it!

Ohhh the feels! Review to come!

Opal (Lux #3) By: JLA
No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it
Yup you guessed it, I finished this one too lol! Review will be up. (Holy cow this one was CRAZY intense!)
Origin (Lux #4) By: JLA
Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?
No I have not finished this one, are you shocked? I am working on it don't you worry!

Favorite Quote: “I've always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect." His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. "The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It's just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.”

So this was a reread for me. I wanted to read this again since the final book came out this week, so I needed to refresh my memory. I have to say I loved this book even more the second time around! You will have so much fun reading this book. Obsidian is fast paced, blistering hot, unique, and hilarious. I can count on one hand how many alien books I have read. It seems like authors stay away from this concept. why they do I have no clue, because aliens are one concept that if done right could make you truly believe that aliens are walking among us. Armentrout does a brilliant job with her own concept of these extra terrestrial beings living a normal life on earth. Who knows maybe your sexy next door neighbor is really an alien! It's no surprise that Armentrout is one of my favorite authors and I have not read a book of hers that has let me down. So if you are wondering if I recommend this book then here is my answer DUH WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!!!
Lets start of with Katy. She is the kind of girl that any book lover would want to be insta best friends with. She loves books and is just as crazy obsessed with them like we all are. She gets excited over getting new books, her house has books in every nook and cranny, she falls inlove and swoons over book boyfriends, and oh yeah one other thing, she has a book blog! Are you sold yet? Katy speaks her mind, is independent, self-sufficient, and strong. She is not only a strong female character that you can easily connect with, but also she's so sassy that she will have you laughing to the point that you may not be able to read this in public without embarrassing yourself.
Now I know what you are thinking by this point well what about Daemon? Well here is my definition of Daemon... SEXY point blank. Daemon has a mouth like a sailor, sexy body and he knows it, and that bad boy angst attitude that pushes Katy to her limits. Their banter from the start is hilarious. Armentrout is known for her funny banter between characters and this book is no exception. Want to know what else Armentrout is known for? Sexy scene that will have you blushing from head to toe and sitting in front of a fan trying to cool yourself down. Katy and Daemon may hate one another, but boy do they have chemistry, and fighting it only makes it hotter. I don't want to give too much away so I hope that this short review gives you enough encouragement to go and get this book, because I promise you won't be disappointed. If you have read this book then leave a comment letting me know what you thought, don't be shy ya'll know I love talking to you guys =)
